This Privacy Policy explains how Electric Car Compare ("we", "us", "our"), operator of electriccar.compare, handles information. We comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

1. The comparison tool — no data collected

Browsing, filtering and comparing EVs on this site requires no account and sends us nothing. The tool runs entirely in your browser. This site sets no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

2. The help-me-choose form — what we collect

If you use the help-me-choose form, we receive only what you type, which may include your name, email, optional mobile, state, budget range, driving patterns, must-haves and anything in the message field.

3. How we use it

• To prepare and send your personal EV shortlist;
• To answer any questions you've asked; and
• To keep a record of our correspondence.

We do not sell, rent or trade your information, we don't add you to marketing lists, and we don't pass your details to dealers or manufacturers without telling you first.

4. How the form is processed

Our form is delivered to our inbox via a third-party form-processing service (FormSubmit). Your details are transmitted to that service solely to deliver your message to us. Please don't include sensitive information (financial details, licence numbers) in the form — none of it is needed for a shortlist.

5. Retention & deletion

We keep correspondence only as long as needed for the purpose it was provided. You can ask us to delete your details at any time.

6. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you, and you may complain to us — and, if unresolved, to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

7. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, including HTTPS across this site. No internet transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update this policy from time to time; the date above reflects the latest version.
